A day of both Heaven and HeLL

We had a rough start this morning, no surprise considering the night before. Tommy cried off and on ALL NIGHT LONG, he is cutting two molars, with a slight cold, Eden pee'd the bed not once but TWICE, within an hour of each other, and to top it off Tommy didn't have his binky until about 2am when I finally went searching, deciding it cruel to cut off binky under said circumstances.
When Tommy woke up this morning his voice was all raspy, Eden on the other hand seemed fine, with more energy than the house could contain. Tommy, being somewhat tired and cranky was not having the energy burst of Eden, which meant they both ended up in tears (because they have to play together regardless of moods). I washed endless loads of bedding, caught up on dishes and scrubbed an overly ripe bathroom. Before that, since the weather decided to radiate sauna like moisture mixed with heat, as well as rain, I broke out the only therapy for rainy day energy---paint.

My kids LOVE to paint, and I love watching them take on this creative endeavor, at least usually. Today, of course seemed to be the exception. I did not have the mental energy to get a kick out of Tommy painting himself, which is all he wanted to do. Generally, Tommy will paint on the paper first, then after getting bored begin experimenting with body art. This time around, it went straight to the hair, and face. I thought about taking a picture, but I was not really in the mood, I didn't find it endearing. After baths, and lunch---cereal, on Eden's request, everyone went down for naps, including myself.

Tommy slept for over three hours, another clue that he was not feeling so hot. Then evening miraculously came, as it always does. We washed dishes together, the kids sat on the couch reading TOGETHeR (!) , I read some articles on church history (one of my favorite topics), we danced in the kitchen, played balloon toss, watched Women's Conference while I finished dinner dishes (I felt like our family photo with the laptop on the counter streaming conference, children laughing and dancing, and me doing dishes should be the centerpiece of the Church magazine), played some more, then off to bed the children went.

Tommy is still a bit raspy, with binky in hand I'm hoping the night will not be so traumatic. I'm on my last load of blankets, after washing both sets of bed covers. Hopefully tonight Eden will wake up enough to get herself to the toilet as well. Church comes early in the morning, and Eden will actually be participating in the main program!

Eden is really excited for the primary program tomorrow in church where she will say, "I can follow God's plan by..." she fills in the blank. Her current kick is 'by praying', her answers have ranged from silly to cute to not making any sense at all (by angels, which I suppose makes some sense), we'll see what she actually says tomorrow on the podium. I wish either the grandparents or Neal were here to witness it, but nonetheless it will happen, and I will be there to record it in my memory. Eden is very excited, she is like her dad, loving the spotlight that performance brings.

Grandma and grandpa are home on Monday evening, things always seem to flow better when they are around. It'll be nice having them back home. I feel strange calling this my 'home', knowing it really isn't 'mine', but it sure feels nice to feel at home again, notwithstanding the absence of my husband.

  2. I'm so glad the day ended better than it started. Hooray for Grandma and Grandpa coming home and making things better! So what DID Eden say in the primary program?
